Supporting Financial Wellness at Work

with Brett Nielsen of Educators Credit Union

Employees who are stressed about their finances will bring that into the workplace.  Improving financial wellness can boost employee productivity, engagement and satisfaction.

Benefits

There are several generations in the workplace with varying financial needs and concerns from debt management, retirement, childcare, caring for parents, emergency savings, insurance, college, employee assistance program (EAP), estate planning, etc.

How can HR help?  By offering benefits to meet the needs of your employees and help your company remain competitive with new employees throughout their career with your organization.

Financial Literacy

Lack of financial literacy leads to financial stress. Employers can assist by providing trusted Financial Literacy resources to employees.  What are those resources? How to use to complement your existing benefits? How to help your employees help themselves?

·        Savings Accounts

·        Debt Counseling

·        Payroll Deduction

·        Health Savings Accounts

·        Educational Resources

      • Understanding that people are too proud to ask for help/admit what they don't know
      • Helping them understand how to make the most of your employee benefits programs for the long term
      • Financial stability helps the community in many ways

Participants will learn about current best practices in personal finance management and be able to guide their employees to various resources.
